Corruption was one of the grievances that ignited mass protests against the rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh in February.

Hundreds of employees demonstrated Wednesday in front of an economics institute linked to the Defense Ministry, demanding the sacking of its manager, Hafez Mayad.

The institute is among the country’s wealthiest and Mayad, who is from Saleh’s tribe, is seen as one of the regime’s most powerful and corrupt figures.
