Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has warned officials of responsibility for the absence of hot water supplies in Kyiv.
“I’m seriously worried about the situation with water supplies, first
of all, supplies of hot water. Many citizens complain that annual
preventive procedures in the heating system don’t meet the deadlines
that are announced to people,” he said, while opening a meeting of the
government on Wednesday, Aug.1.
The premier added that people have complained about the absence of
hot water supplies for a month in Dniprovsky, Desniansky, and Obolonsky
district in Kyiv.
“People had to contact the premier in Facebook to start settling the
problem. This is unacceptable. People will never trust authorities like
these. What happened? As for the fact that the finance ministry,
construction ministry and Kyiv City State Administration failed to agree
on payments of compensation for the difference in tariffs, officials
did not find a solution and made tens of thousands of people prisoners
of the situation,” Azarov said.
“I’m seriously warning you that if people don’t get utility services
in time – by the way they pay for them regularly – I will take all
necessary measures,” the premier said.
In addition, Azarov ordered the Finance Ministry and the Regional
Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Ministry, as well as
heads of regional administrations to hold a phone conference and
regulate the problems of payment of compensations for the difference in
tariffs and hot water supplies in regions.
