A court has rejected an appeal lodged by the Batkivschyna Party to include the names of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko on the ballots for voting on party lists at the upcoming parliamentary elections in Ukraine.

Kyiv’s Administrative Court of Appeal took a respective decision on Monday, Sept. 3.

“A panel of judges of Kyiv’s Administrative Court of Appeal believes
that the CEC acted solely within the powers given to it and in the
manner prescribed by the constitution. Consequently, there are no
grounds to satisfy an appeal against the Central Election Commission to
cancel the decision,” reads the court ruling.

It also states that according to the law on the election of people’s
deputies of Ukraine, the subjects of the electoral process are
candidates registered by the CEC.

“Under these circumstances, Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lutsenko
included in the list of the Batkivschyna Party are not candidates for
people’s deputies,” reads the ruling.
