The Higher Administrative Court of Ukraine has upheld a refusal to register former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko and former interior minister Yuriy Lutsenko as parliamentary candidates from the united opposition.
The decision was made on Wednesday and cannot be appealed.
The Batkivschyna United Opposition appealed against a decision by Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeals which refused to grant the opposition complaint against a Central Election Commission decision not to register Tymoshenko and Lutsenko as candidates because of their unspent convictions.
The opposition asked for Kyiv appellate administrative court’s ruling to be quashed and a new ruling to be made upholding its lawsuit claim in full.
The opposition asked the court to cancel the CEC decision not to register Tymoshenko and Lutsenko as candidates and to compel the CEC to register them as candidates.
