You're reading: Tymoshenko needs to stay in hospital for another month, says medical commission

Kharkiv – Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will stay in Kharkiv Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 under the supervision of Ukrainian and German doctors for at least another month, head of the joint medical commission and Ukrainian Deputy Health Minister Raisa Moiseyenko has said.

The patient currently needs to stay in Ukrzaliznytsia’s hospital under the supervision of Ukrainian and German doctors,” Moiseyenko told reporters on Tuesday near the hospital, where the ex-premier is undergoing treatment.

She also said that this was a joint decision of Ukrainian and German physicians, which was made at the patient’s request.

According to Moiseyenko, Tymoshenko’s stay in hospital will be prolonged for a month or longer depending on the effectiveness of her treatment.

She also noted that Tymoshenko had been in hospital longer than usual for patients.

“The standardized treatment usually takes 14 to 21 days… The inpatient treatment [of Tymoshenko] has continued for five months already. However, the situation is rather unusual, and the patient is a bit special,” Moiseyenko said.
