Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko has expressed condolences to the families of soldiers who died in a plane shot down near Luhansk and stressed that the military conflict in the east of the country should be settled as quickly as possible.

“I know that there are no words that now can appease parents, wives, and children. Ukraine will again bury its sons who died as heroes. May they rest in peace,” Tymoshenko said.

The party leader urged the relatives of the victims to be courageous and strong in this complicated and tragic time.

“It is particularly painful as my townsmen, the soldiers of the 25th separate Dnipropetrovsk Airborne Brigade, were killed by terrorists. I ask you – be courageous. Your tragedy is the tragedy of the whole country, all those concerned,” she said.

Tymoshenko also stressed that the military conflict in the east of Ukraine should be settled as soon as possible.

“Our faction in the Verkhovna Rada and me are expecting the authorities to make clear decisive initiatives to restore peace. I guarantee they will be unconditionally supported,” she said.
