Instagram, a photo-sharing and video-sharing social network with 400 million users worldwide, has over the last years become a promotion and money-earning tool for many foreign artists and auction houses. In Ukraine, this trend is slowly picking up, too. The Kyiv Post has tracked down the most interesting Instagram accounts of Ukrainian galleries and modern artists, where one can buy paintings or follow art news.

PinchukArtCentre, Ukraine’s best-known contemporary art gallery, located
in the heart of Kyiv, organizes cultural projects, workshops, and exhibitions
of the most interesting, even provocative contemporary artworks. Opened in
2006, the art center launched its Instagram account only five months ago. The
center’s feed features photos from exhibitions and information about events
held in the center. The art center has 1,539 followers.

Founded by Ukrainian pop musician
and famous modern art collector Pavlo Hudimov in 2007, YaGallery is another
adorable place for modern art connoisseurs. Gudimov’s art space organizes lectures,
and discussions, and it also regularly holdsmodern Ukrainian artists’ exhibitionsabroad.
Two months ago the gallery launched its Instagram, which now has more than 1,500
subscribers. Ya Galleryon Instagram is a good place for those interested in checking
out new Ukrainian art.

Shcherbenko Art Centre has good selection of works by Ukraine’s most famous
modern artists. It also fosters talented young Ukrainian artists.

This art center is the ideal
place for those who want to get acquainted with modern Ukrainian artfrom
scratch. It has a good selection of works by Ukraine’s most famous modern
artists -Oleksandr Roytburd, Serhiy Kaydak, Anatoliy Kryvolap, Vlada Ralko, and
many others. Besides working with recognized masters, Shcherbenko Art Centre also
fosters talented young Ukrainian artists. The center’s Instagram account was opened
nearly five months ago, and it features the photos of guests who visit its
events. However, photos of artwork exhibited in the gallery are not much to be
found on its Instagram feed, and this could be the reason why the center has
picked up few subscribers.

of Odesa Art Gallery have option to buy the artworks there. The prices of
paintings vary from $100 to $2,000.

Odesa Art Gallery’s
Instagram page offers a collection of paintings by the local artists. Its
subscribers can admire photos of the abstract works of Oleh Nedoshybko or ceramic
paintings by Iryna Antonova, as well as modern art byAnastasia Rogova, Nataliya
Rokhanska, Stella Nedbayevskaya and Nataliya Loza. Most of its Instagram photos
feature landscapes and still life paintings. Odesa Art Gallery started its
Instagram page nearly four months ago,and now the nearly 2,500 followers have the
option to buy the artworks there. The prices of paintings vary from $100 to $2,000.
On provision of a 50 percent advance payment, the art gallery owners promise to
deliver purchased paintingsanywhere in Ukraine within three days.

Irina Yastremska, a young
artist from Odesa, decided to promote herself by posting photos of her works on
Instagram. The page is not very popular yet, although the artworks definitely deserve
attention. Yastremska creates interesting graphic art and abstract paintings.

Kyiv’s Dukat art space works both as a gallery and as an art education center. It joined
Instagram only a few weeks ago, and its page is dedicated more to events than to
the art works exhibited in the gallery. But although Dukat’s Instagram contains
only a few photos of modern art, one can still learn some
useful information about its plans for future art exhibitions.
