You're reading: Five new Kyiv cafes to try out

No matter how attached we are to our favorite restaurants, there is always a chance to find a new venue that will be even better. Especially, when it's Kyiv and it's fall.

So check out these cafes that have just recently opened in Kyiv.

Hlintveynya

2 Bessarabska Square

12 p.m. – 11:45 p.m.

Kyivans
have no reasons to be afraid of the fall depression now. A cup of good mulled
wine from the new Hlintveynya place on Bessarabska Square can fix any bad mood
and heat up a rainy day. Wooden interior, the smell of the mulled wine boiled
in two huge copper tubs and the spiced Bavarian sausages won’t leave one dispassionate
about Hlintveynya. Here one can enjoy 220-milliliters cups of mulled wine in the heart of Kyiv for just Hr 32. A Kolbaska Plate that includes three
sausages (Munich, Prague or Bavaria), potato salad, sauerkraut cabbage, chef’s
sauce and a baguette goes for Hr 51. The menu is in Ukrainian
and English.

Hashtag Bar

48 Vozdvyzhenska St.

Monday – Saturday from 12 p.m. till the last visitor; Sunday from 6 p.m.till the last visitor

This new
place in Vozdvyzhenka neighborhood is nothing about IT or social media despite
its name. It’s bar menu is more about whiskey and all possible drink
combinations one can get out of it. The loft design of the interior along with the
quiet lounge music makes the bar different from the places where hard rock screams
in your ears and the most of the crowd is drunk. Hashtag Bar is a modest and
classy solution for those who like to enjoy their Esquire magazine while
drinking a whiskey based drink for as much as Hr 55. The food selection is not
so rich though. You might order a piece of a homemade pie with spinach, feta
cheese or salmon, sandwich with jamon or falafel. All dishes prices are set for
the level of Hr 30.

One Love
Espresso Bar

100 Chervonoarmiyska St.

Week days 8 a.m. – 11 p.m., weekends 10 a.m. – 11 p.m.

The view on the St. Nicolas Cathedral from the summer terrace of One Love Espresso Bar.

For those
who haven’t settled with their favorite coffee place in Kyiv yet, a new one has
just started off in August and might become one and only love for its visitors.
The café is located in the building of the Toronto business center and offers a
view at the beautiful St. Nicolas cathedral from a summer terrace. The main menu attraction is a coffee list with all
drinks based on espresso. The price range for coffee is Hr 21-42. The café also offers a
wine list with 25 sorts of wine and super delicious cakes, tartlets and other
confectionaries made by Kyiv home bakeries specifically for One Love Espresso
Bar.

Bavette
Pasta Bar

35 Nyzhniy Val St.

11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Cream cheese sauce and spinach pasta in Bavette Pasta Bar.

The name of
the place reveals the main reason why all fans of Italian cuisine should
definitely try this place out. The atmosphere of the restaurant is moderate and
quiet, just like the Podol district where it is located at. One can try
different pastas here. The list starts with the standard Bellagio, Bolognese
and Prosciutto and continues with the restaurant’s specials – cream cheese sauce and spinach, salmon,
shrimp, quatro formaggi, tomato sauce and eggplant, artichoke, beef and tuna
fish. The prices sound tasty and range Hr 50-60. All sorts of coffee drinks and
wine are also offered at the restaurant.

Ogogo Café

31 Volynska St.

10 a.m – 10 p.m.

Ogogo Cafe front porch fits the American diner format picked by the owners of the place.

Ogogo Café was
aimed specifically for the quiet little streets of Kyiv’s Solomyansky district. Its
atmosphere is closest to the style of the American diners where one can enjoy any
meal of the day with the family not far from home. The cuisine of Ogogo Café tends
most to fast food. However, that does not imply an ordinary taste one can find
in McDonald’s. The Facebook page of the
restaurant already has many reviews from the visitors who confirm the
absolutely grand taste of its burgers, salads, panini and bruschettas. The
prices for the main dishes start at Hr 25 and freeze around Hr 40. The most popular
desert is Napoleon cake. Even though it is not of American origin, it fits the
restaurant menu perfectly.
