You're reading: Music Critic: Kamaliya set to conquer London with new single

With infectious beats and catchy lyrics, Ukraine’s singer-actress Kamaliya will unveil her latest single “Crazy In My Heart” on Dec. 12 in London.

The blitz is clearly aimed at conquering the dance floors of Britain and beyond.

The single marks a new creative direction for Kamaliya. Previously focusing on pop, classical, and R&B, this song is more of a pure trance-dance track, composed by Russian pop king Philipp Kirkorov and remixed by London’s duo Digital Dog.

In line with the genre, the new music video is a striking melange of sensual and contrasting scenes. In one, she is a tender blond angel in white dancing against the light of an over-sized moon. In another, she is a seductive brunette in the company of pole dancers, reminiscent of a James Bond intro scene.

“I decided to change dramatically for this music video, even beyond recognition,” says Kamaliya, who worked with the British producer Andy Soup to create the video. Kamaliya is firmly focused on producing more thumping tracks, according to her website.

The British team working on Kamaliya’s release is as passionate about the big event as the singer herself.

“With the great talent that Kamaliya has we are reaching for the stars and looking for her hit records in shortest time possible,” says Hermione Ross of London-based Handimusic company working with Kamaliya. “She has everything it takes to become a star in the U.K.” The British team is projecting raving club success with “Crazy in My Heart” aiming for Top 10 Pop Dance Chart peak position.

The launch of Kamaliya’s single and her introduction to London society will take place in one of the capital’s most exquisite flower-shops on the fashionable Sloane Street. The guest list is comprised of nearly 70 high-society names as well as celebrities and executives from the music and media industries, her team said. Digital Dog will spice up the ambiance with his electronic beats in the background.

The single’s launch, however, is only the beginning of Kamaliya’s ambitious plan to expand into the British music scene. Over the coming months Kamaliya will release two other singles “Rising Up” and “Arrythmia” and the fans can look forward to an album released in 2012 in the U.K. This February she will also tour the dance floors of U.K.’s best clubs, a bright spot in the long winter.

“We believe that ‘Crazy In My Heart’ will build Kamaliya’s general awareness and garner her true dance-roots credibility before the next two singles,” says Ross. The team has also started work on her social networking profile, where the fans can easily communicate with the singer.

In Ukraine, Kamaliya already has a dedicated following.

Aside from releasing four albums and recording nearly 80 tracks, she has made her mark in other areas. Kamaliya, the wife of Kyiv Post publisher Mohammad Zahoor, was crowned 2008 Mrs. World and has been modeling for world-class designers ever since.

She is also a budding actress, appearing in several Russian films and the recent Hollywood thriller Officer Down. Now she is gearing up for a new major role in “What About Love” with Sharon Stone and Andy Garcia. Exuberant and determined, there is no doubt Kamaliya will continue to surprise and delight her countless fans.
