Vice's Ryan Duffy travels to Russia to spend a day with one of the richest local businessmen, Sergey Veremeenko, now 57. His fortune was estimated by the Forbes magazine at $1.4 billion, making him the 843rd richest person worldwide in 2008.
Duffy put together an eight-minute documentary, illustrating his experience. A day in life of a Russian billionaire seems to satisfy most of the existing stereotypes and takes them a step further. We get to meet his 26-year old wife, Sofia, who held the title of Mrs. World 2006, and see his private collection of Russian religious art, thought to be the biggest in the world.
Veremeenko takes Duffy to his private hunting estate later and the two end the day in the traditional Russian sauna, the banya.
“We’ve been drinking vodka since 2:00 p.m., but Sergey says it’s time to go to the sauna, so we go to the sauna,” says Duffy in the video, looking slightly drunk.
