Musicians from Ukrainian rock band S.K.A.Y have rescued a drowning man in the River Thames together with their fans from the city's Ukrainian Diaspora.

S.K.A.Y had met
with fans in a cafe near Big-Ben the night before their big concert in
London on Feb. 25 as a part of their tour across Western Europe.
The frontman, Oleh Sobchuk, offered to take a
group photo with fans near the river.

That’s when Alexandr
Drucker, the band’s bass guitarist, noticed a man in the water and rushed to save him.

Anastasia
Khilevska, the manager of 2W
Entertainment, a concert agency
that organizes concerts of Ukrainian musicians abroad, told the Kyiv Post that all
the musicians immediately joined Drucker and helped him hold a rope attached to a lifesaver.

“It was cold. The rope was slippery. Although they (musicians) worked together, it was very
hard for them to pull the man out of the water,” said Khilevska.

Meanwhile, fans decided to call rescuers. According to Khilevska, bystanders just watched the rescue mission as if it were part of a music video.

“When the rescue service arrived, they saved the man
and took him to the hospital,” said Khilevska.

Fans from the Ukrainian Diaspora in London filmed the
entire incident. After the man was
saved, a happy and excited Drucker was smiling, saying he had good karma and
sight.

“Someone had to do this. Tonight it was me. I just saw a man in the water. The same keeps happening in Kyiv,” said Drucker.
