Protasiv Yar

Protasiv Yar ski complex, located close to the Kyiv center, is the most popular skiing and snowboarding destination in the city. The complex has three ski runs of different levels and one run for children. There are also two ski lifts and equipment rental. An ID or a driver’s license is required as a deposit when renting the equipment. Protasiv Yar offers skiing and snowboarding lessons for adults and children, including the services of a private instructor.

Price: Hr 130 to rent ski equipment for three hours, Hr 105 for snowboard equipment for four hours. Hr 10-20 for one chairlift ride. Hr 300 per hour for a private instructor service. Saturday night unlimited ticket is Hr 250.

Protasiv Yar ski complex (23A Protasiv Yar St.). www.gora.com.ua. On Mondays 2 p.m. – 10 p.m., other weekdays 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Night skiing on Saturday 10:30 p.m. – 4 a.m.

VyshHora

VyshHora ski complex is located in Vyshhorod, 20 kilometers north of Kyiv. It has only one ski run. It is a steeper one than the runs in Protasiv Yar’s. However, VyshHora offers skiing lessons. There is also a full-night skiing option, offered on Friday and Saturday nights. Another interesting offer is snow tubing (Hr 100-150 for hour).

Prices: Equipment rental (Hr 80 per hour for ski and Hr 100 for snowboarding equipment) is possible after leaving a driver’s license or Hr 3,000-4,000 as a deposit. Ski passes are Hr 80-250 depending on the day of the week and the number of rides. Snowboard rental Hr 100 per hour. Snow tube rental Hr 100-150 per hour.

VyshHora ski complex (102 Vatutina St., Vyshhorod). www.vishgora.ua. Mondays: 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. Other weekdays: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Full-night skiing option on Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Gvozdiv-Grad

Gvozdiv-Grad is a new choice for those planning a weekend skiing trip. It opened on Jan. 4. It is part of a resort complex in village Hvozdiv 32 kilometers south of Kyiv, which also includes a hotel and a restaurant. Gvozdiv-Grad offers three ski tracks for beginners and advanced skiers, two surface lifts and a ramp for snowboarders.

Prices: Hr 7-15 for a rope-tow ride. Ski rental Hr 250-300 per day, or Hr 150 for three hours. Snowboard rental Hr 90 for three hours. Rooms are Hr 1,500 – 2,500 per night.

Gvozdiv resort complex (30 Yarova St., Gvozdiv). www.gvozdiv.com. 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. On Mondays: 3 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Vodianyky

Another ski resort for a weekend trip is in Vodianyky village in Cherkasy Oblast 185 kilometers away from Kyiv. This ski complex has three ski runs and two lifts. A snowboarding park is temporarily closed. The resort offers a hotel and three restaurants.

Prices: A full day ticket is Hr 270-300. Equipment hire is Hr 130-290 per day. A room in the hotel is Hr 800-2,200 per night.
