I have just taken an official taxi from Kyiv Boryspil to the Kidev Park Hotel next to Boryspil Airport. The taxi driver did not switch on the taximeter. When I asked why he did not do this, he just answered, “Ask the manager at the airport,” and “we have a minimum taxi fare”. At the hotel he asked me for 150 hryvnia that took about 4-5 minutes. When I asked for a receipt, he just printed a bill on his taximeter by pressing one of the buttons that displayed a 180 hrvynia charge.

When I started to ask about the number to the airport manager he just dropped my luggage off and asked with a very unpleasant voice, “150 hryvnia,” grabbed the money, jumped in the car and drove away very fast. I noticed the taxi’s license plate number (AA 5481 EP).

On the bill he gave me there are a lot of different things printed, but NO RIDE!!!

By driving from Boryspil airport to the hotel next to the airport I paid:

Kilometers: 0.00
Time of wait: 0.10
Seating: 30.00 UAH
Airport (???): 50.00 UAH (perhaps bought some part of Boryspil airport?)
Baggage (???): 50.00 UAH
Additional Services (???): 50.00 UAH

I am really very surprised about such “professionalism” in cheating by the official airport taxis. I would like also to inform the tax office of Kyiv about such a nice situation just before Euro 2012.

The same letter I will also send to the Euro 2012 organizers in Poland, to FIFA and to the Ukrainian and Polish press.

Please see attached a picture of the taxi bill I have received.

I am also surprised, how will Ukraine invite guests to do business in this country, if there is such a welcome experience by an official airport organization (recommended in the guides!) just at the airport?
