And the punctuation of the debate about the new “language law” is pretty startling too. In May featured a fistfight in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament. Then suddenly, the law “On the foundations of state language policy” passed on Tuesday evening, leaving behind a trail of question marks.
