Pavel Kanygin, a special correspondent at the Russian outlet Novaya Gazeta, has presented what he claims is exclusive proof that “Khmuryi,” the nome de guerre of the Russian military figure suspected to be implicated in the downing of MH17, the passenger airliner that was shot with a Buk missile above Donbas, is Russian Colonel Sergey Dubinsky. This was confirmed by Dubinsky’s former comrade-in-arms Tiunov. Additionally, an expert comparison of “Khmuryi’s” voice from the SBU wiretaps and a recording of a conversation with Dubinsky done by the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology at the University of Gothenburg concluded it was likely that the two recordings feature the voice of the same person.
