Ukraine prioritizes human trafficking fight while chairing the OSCE

While chairing the OSCE in 2013 Ukraine is going to make human trafficking fight as its priority. The identified problem is critical for the country as well that’s why Ukrainian government promises to pay special attention to combating this phenomenon and to minimize spreading and worsening the situation worldwide. Besides human trafficking, Ukraine is also keen on solving protracted conflicts, ensuring energy security, promoting economic development including the development of new trade and transport corridors.

Andriy Shevchenko entered top 20 goal scorers of the 21st century

On the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), a Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko entered TOP-20 goal scorers of the 21st century. Having 74 goals scored for the Ukrainian football national team and clubs the player ranked the 12th. 

The rating also took into account a number of goals scored by players in international matches since 2001. Totally the list includes 119 names,

Children will shape positive image of western Ukraine

The project “Tell about your native land: launched at schools in Ternopil, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, and Zhytomyr regions is going to attract children to learn historical, cultural and natural attractions of their native region, implement initiatives for shaping positive regional image and preserve its historical heritage. The works sent to the contest will be used for creating a two-language map of outstanding historical and natural sights of western Ukraine, the land full of rich culture, unique cuisine and interesting history. The map will be free distributed at festivals and the events attended by foreign tourists, airports. Initiators of the project also invite adults to ‘Tell about their native land’. The region-winner will get some funds for restoring cultural or historical objects.

Ukrainian women biathlonists win the ‘gold’ in the relay 4 the World Cup Biathlon in Oberhofi

Ukrainian women biathlon team won gold medals in 4×6 km relay at the fourth stage of the World Cup season 2012/2013 held on Jan. 3-6 in the German city, Oberhof. The ‘golden’ team was presented by Olena Pidgrushna, Yulia Jim and sisters Vita and Valentina Semerenko. Ukrainian women could get victory over sportswomen from France and Germany.
