Leipzig falls in love with Ukrainian literature

From March 14-17, one of the biggest European book fairs, held in Leipzig, Germany, is organizing a large-scale presentation of modern Ukrainian literature and technologies. The Ukrainian program called “Leipzig reads Ukraine,” includes a presentation of Ukrainian books and IT applications for reading, studying and entertaining; reading and speeches of Ukrainians together with European authors, discussions on literature and social themes, introduction of the works by Oksana Zabuzhko, Yuriy Andrukhovych and Andriy Kurkov, and literature café.

Athens plans to get closer to Kyiv

On April 3, a Greek airlines Aegean Airlines plans to launch an Athens-Kyiv flights. The capital of Ukraine will serve the direction at Kyiv Zhuliany airport. The flights will be performed twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. The two-way ticket price starts from €290. On April 3, the Greek company also launches Larnaca-Kyiv flights.

Irina Kaptelova won the Best foreign actress nomination in China TV.

China establishes special award for a Ukrainian

Ukrainian actress Irina Kaptelova became the first foreign actress award with the prestigious TV Drama Awards Made in China. The golden statue in ‘The Best Foreign actress 2012 nomination, specially established to recognize the Ukrainian’s talent, was given to Irina for performing the leading women role in TV show My Natasha. This is the film that made a native of Dnipropetrovsk ‘a shining star of the Chinese movie’. At present time Irina is filming in a joint Chinese and American project.

An annual TV Drama Awards Made in China enters TOP-3 most prestigious film awards in China, it is considered as an Asian analogue of the American ‘Emmy’ award.

Strong Sumy boy sets record

Yehor Leonenko, an 8-year-old native of the city of Sumy, broke the world’s powerlifting record for his age. The boy managed to lift 41 kilograms, beating the previous record for. His predecessor, a native of the USA, could set a record of 37.5 kilograms.
