government tries to prevent domestic violence

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a draft law of
the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on preventing domestic violence. Thus, it
is proposed to replace “family violence” with “home violence” to oblige local
authorities, social services on family, children and young people, establishments
and institutions on education and health care to take measures on preventing domestic
violence, to improve the system of assistance to victims of home violence, to
apply public works as punishment of offenders.

Sumy University sees its students as family members

The Center for
Family Support at the Sumy State University got an award from the East Europe Foundation.
The innovation award was given to the Ukrainian university for a program to
create a family-friendly university, where students and the university staff will
be able to perform their professional and family duties efficiently.

Nine-year-old lecturer teaches third-year student at Cherkasy university

A 9-year old native of Cherkasy Oblast, Vitaliy Nechayev, gives lectures
at the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Cherkasy National University. The little boy teaches
third-year students of the history faculty. His extraordinary skills and
knowledge brought him a national award “The Pride Of The Nation.” Nechayev
dreamt to become president but decided to devote himself to science. At the age
of 9, child prodigy has already started writing a book on history. Moreover,
Vitaliy plans to get a school certificate and enter the university.
