Vinnytsia Oblast set the national record for largest pysanki painting
initiative, with 350 boys and girls painting Easter symbols on eggs under the guidance of a pysanka-master, Oksana Ferkhovak-Yednak. The project consumed 500 eggs, 5 kg of wax and 50 liters of food coloring. It
took one month to arrange the event. Next year it is planned to involve about 1,000 people.

Kyiv student can
fulfill the dream of thousands of people

Anton Holovachenko, an inhabitant of Kyiv, invented a Lego construction set-based exoskeleton
allowing the disabled to move freely. The device is expected to cost from $3,500
to 4,000 (much cheaper than a foreign alternative). It took Anton almost a year to develop his device; the invention has already been successfully tested in a Kyiv clinic. The exoskeleton’s work
includes recording gestures of a healthy man onto a special server and
mounting servomotors into the device that, in its turn, moves
the body’s position. Thus, a person can move with a paralyzed arm or other body parts.

Kyiv will soon see a unique water park

In 2014, Kyryl lake in Kyiv see the construction of a leisure complex consisting of water
gardens, children and
sports playgrounds, a children’s center and places for
families to rest. On the advice of ecologists the park will be surrounded by pines and the
water cleaned with special algae. The project is currently at the stage
of completing its documentation.

A unique Kievan Rus Christianization art object will appear in Ukraine

Local authorities of the capital of
Ukraine announced a national blitz-contest on choosing the best conceptual design for a memorial devoted to the 1025th anniversary of the Christianization of Kievan Rus. To participate one needs
to fill out an application and e-mail it to [email protected] until July 24. Winners of the first, second and third prize will be awarded with $10,000, $7,500 and $5,000 respectively.
