HIV-youth number in Ukraine decreases by 6 times
According to the representative of the Ukrainian delegation
to the United Nations, Yaroslav Golitsyn,
the number of HIV-infected young people in Ukraine (ages 14 to 24)
has fallen sixfold. He believes this is the result of efforts to ease access to medical facilities. The UN praised local Kyiv
authorities for implementing their
plan and wished them further success.
Flights link Kyiv to Sardinia
Italian airlines Meridiana
Fly launched flights between Olbia, on the island of Sardinia, and Kyiv.
The flights are serviced by Boeing 737 every Thursday. Meridiana Fly is the second
largest airline in Italy. Its route network comprises 7 intercontinental, 48 international and 32 domestic
destinations.

Guest cards attract tourists to Alushta
The Guest Card
project, recently launched in Alushta (Crimea), aims to attract tourists by providing them with visitor’s cards which
entitle them to 5-15 percent discounts for excursion and beach
services, museums, meals and taxis.This card is given to tourists after they pay a tourist tax, together
with a list
of participants in the project. Alushta’s experience will serve as roadmap for other cities in the
Ukrainian peninsula who are expected to replicate this model.

First convicted mothers to receive maternal aid in
prison
According to the Cabinet of Ministers decree from April 1,
2013, a woman giving birth in prison or other correctional
facility will receive financial support from the state. All the required documents are submitted by the correctional facility administration to the
social protection department. After that a bank institution opens a deposit in the child’s name and transfers the money. In turn,
the woman gets a certificate with the financial amount fixed. The cash is given to a woman after being released.
Thus, on June,13 the first financial certificates
were given to three convicted mothers kept in a Chernihiv
penal colony № 44.

‘Heart to heart’ volunteers
help children with hearing defects
For the eight time
volunteers from the Heart to Heart foundation collected over Hr 4
million ($500,000) to purchase diagnostic equipment and hearing
aids. The biggest amounts were raised in Vinnytsia,
Volyn and Zakarpattia Oblasts. In gratitude to everybody who took part in the action, a free rock concert Woodstock will be held at the seaside town of Hribivka
(Odesa Oblast) on July 16-21.
