Crimea
successfully implements technical assistance projects

Since the beginning
of 2013 Crimea has implemented 57 international technical assistance
projects, 11 of which have already been completed successfully.
International organizations have invested about $41.6 million in the
region. Most projects foucsed on education and science, culture,
health, civil society and regional development.

Donetsk
prepares
for Eurobasket 2015

A multi-functional
arena, Kalmius Arena, is being installed in Donetsk as part of the
preparations for the Eurobasket 2015 Championship. In the future the
facility will be able to host some 100 types of sports events,
including hockey, basketball, boxing, athletics. It will also serve
to host shows, concerts and exhibitions, too. Total arena capacity is
16,500 seats (for concerts), 13,200 (for basketball matches) and
12,800 (for hockey competitions). There will be about 700 parking
spaces.

and Moldova to strengthen science and technology cooperation

A meeting of leaders
from the Moldovan and Ukrainian state research and innovation
agencies has resulted in the approval of 6 science projects and
signed a bilateral cooperation program in the field of science and
technology.

Travel
Massive in Ukraine to discuss
world tourism prospects

On Aug.1,
representatives of the global international tourism society, Travel
Massive (travel industry professionals, travellers, bloggers, travel
media and airlines representatives) will meet in Kyiv to talk about
the prospects of developing tourism worldwide. The event will cover
such topics as the “basic mistakes made by beginner entrepreneurs,
promoting the state’s tourism potential abroad, and niche tourism,
notably gastronomic tours.

Paralympic althete
from Lviv Oblast
sets world record
in Paris

At the World
Championship for paralympic sportsmen with musculoskeletal system,
eyesight and mental defects, held in Paris, Roman Pavlyk from Lviv
Oblast set the world record in long jump with a result of 5.44
meters. The Ukrainian also won silver medals in running 100 and 200
meter distances. Overall the competition was attended by 1,073
disabled athletes from 93 countries. The Ukrainian national team was
represented by 32 paralympic athletes (17 men and 15 women).
