Loves Monument contest to start in Ukraine

‘Wikimedia Ukraine’ non-governmental organization, under the support of the
Ministry of Culture, announced  starting “Wiki Loves Monuments,” the world’s large-scale photo contest on cultural heritage monuments, being
held on Sept.1-30.

The contest is to spread knowledge and data about world’s cultural
heritage by collecting photos and posting them on the relevant Wikipedia text
articles and other ‘Wikimedia’ organization projects.

This year Ukrainian ‘Wiki Loves Monuments’ contest part includes three
special awards, ‘Kyiv with foreigners’ eyes’, Armenian cultural monuments in
Ukraine’ and ‘Greek cultural monuments in Ukraine’.

 Kyiv opens a
unique
children’s engineering school

On Sept.1 the first Ukraine’s Children’s Engineering Academy missioned to find
and support of
children with inventive and design abilities opens in Kyiv. The trainings will be organized
on robotics,
architecture and design, engineering, etc.

The Children’s Engineering Academy implements an innovative idea of
individual education – a unique standard to define training rhythm and
volume is developed depending on child’s inclinations and abilities.

The academy training is a good chance for children to enter specialized institutions cause the universities managers can select students on the stage of senior
pupils’ project defence. The Kyiv National University on Building and Architecture became the
first partner of the academy.

The Academy was founded within the national project ‘Intellectual future of Ukraine’.

 Germany will invest into construction
of the airport in Lutsk

German investors are planning to build an the Lutsk Regional Airport at the local
military airfield. A representative of the ‘Luft Express GmbH’ company
office in Ukraine said that one intends to erect an air terminal of 1000 square meters and a
capacity of 50-70 people per hour, runway maintenance and infrastructure on the military airfield adjacent
territory as well.

At the meeting with the regional leadres both parties agreed to register a joint venture to work on developing design
proposals and coordinate technical issues.

Mykolaiv
natives are invited to make a contribution into their city beautification

Active residents of Mykolaiv, members of the ‘Club of the political diagnosis ‘StrekoZa’ offered to
create a ‘Bank
of Ideas for the future mayor of Mykolaiv’ served as a platform to present ideas to solve
actual city problems,
to
gather like-minded
people in implementing projects and maintain a dialogue between the public and city mayor.

The Club representatives said that a sent idea will be
submitted to a new
mayor, in case of its approval, the city authorities will be responsible for
its implementation.

Ukrainian-Polish joint alternative
energy
center to
launch

The ‘Ukrainian-Polish Center for improving renewable energy and
energy efficiency technology’, a joint project of the Embassy of Poland in Ukraine
and the National Technical University of Ukraine ‘Kyiv Polytechnic Institute’ to
function in November 2013.

The Center future specialists, scientists and students, are going
to conduct
researches to gradually increase renewable energy segment in both countries.

The institution will be funded by both countries, necessary equipment is provided
by Poland, personnel and premises are given by Ukrainian side.
