600 Lviv natives sing famous
Christmas carol Shchedryk

On
Oct. 26, 20 Lviv choir groups set up the national record. About 600 people sang
the world-known Christmas carol ‘Shchedryk’. The performance was conducted by
MANSOUND Ukrainian jazz sextet.

It
is worth reminding ‘Shchedryk’ Christmas carol is one of the most popular songs
known under the name ‘Carol of the Bells’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shchedryk_(song).

Kharkov eleventh graders are giving
up final party to sick children

35
eleventh graders of a school in Kharkiv decided to sacrifice their graduation
party to the babies with congenital heart disease. The saved money, usually
spent of clothes and restaurant (about UAH 15-20,000) will be given to
cardiovascular department of the Kharkiv Institute of General and Emergency
Surgery.

The
action is aimed at focusing children’s attention to real life values rather
than collecting funds.

The
school action is also supported by the vice-governor who promised to double the
collected sum of money.

Ukraine takes part in ‘Steadfast
Jazz- 2013’ trainings

Ukrainian marines are to participate in the NATO Response Force ‘Steadfast
Jazz- 2013’ international military trainings planned for Oct.28-Nov.9, 2013 at ‘Drawski-Pomorski’,
the training center of land forces of the Republic of Poland.

Overall,
6,000 special forces soldiers, land, naval and air forces officers from 23
NATO-countries take part in ‘Steadfast Jazz-2013’. Alongside Ukraine, the event
will be also participated by the NATO countries-partners such as Macedonia,
Sweden and Finland. The participants will learn maneuvers to repel aggression and
repulse large-scale cyber attacks. The trainings are conducted in several
locations in different Alliance countries; the largest actions are held in
Latvia and Poland.

Zhytomyr Oblast is actively developing
‘green’ tourism

The
7th International scientific-practical conference on ‘Actual
problems, current state and prospects of development for tourism industry in
Ukraine and Poland’, held in Zhytomyr, announced the main priorities for tourism
development in the region, particularly, business, cultural, educational,
green, pilgrim, active and recreational spheres.

The
local government representatives noted that ‘green’ tourism is getting more and
more popular in the region. The rural estates are built with Polesia district color
maintained, rest places equipped and the nature preserved. This tourism development
promotes creating new jobs and educational centers, improving infrastructure
and developing rural areas in general.

Modern perinatal center to be opened
in Kherson

By
the end of 2014 the modern regional perinatal center, worth $66,5 million, will
be opened in Kherson. The future institution is expected to become one of the
best in Ukraine. The center is equipped with the latest medical equipment, so
called ‘clean rooms’ (the room where dust, bacteria and chemical vapor are
maintained in the air at permissible level) etc.
