Microsoft supports Ukrainians’ invention

Microsoft Company gave $50,000 to the Ukrainians whose invention Enable Talk won the international program grant Imagine Cup. Enable Talk is a device that allows transforming signs and gestures into speech.

According to the Ukrainian inventors, their device, combination of modern technologies of microelectronics and opportunities for Windows, is a good solution for more than 40 million people having ear and speech defects.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medals went to three Ukrainians

Three Ukrainians living in Canada were awarded with Diamond Jubilee medals of Queen Elizabeth II.

Yevhen Choliy, the president of the World Ukrainians’ Congress, specialist in corporate and commercial law who has been actively participating in the life of Ukrainian diaspora in Canada for 25 years.

Roman Serbin, a historian, professor of history at the University of Quebec in Montreal, author of numerous articles and books on Ukrainian history.

Yuri Luhovyi, documentary pioneer, member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, producer of several documentaries.

Anna Grechishkina is going to perform a bike world tour for social and image purposes.

Socially image bike world tour by Ukrainian woman

Anna Grechishkina, member of the Ukrainian National Association of Motorcyclists, plans to travel around the world for one year and a half.  She starts the trip on July 12 and finishes in January 2015.

According to Anna, her trip brings both social and image characters. On one hand the woman plans to meet with orphans and HIV young people in every city she visits. On another hand, Anna also wants to promote Ukraine and improves its image on the international arena. If Anna manages to succeed she will be the first woman among the former Soviet countries who performs a bike world tour. The trip includes travelling around 5 continents; length of the journey is above 100 thousand miles.

Italian visa centers are to open in big cities of Ukraine.

Italy is increasing its presence in Ukraine

Italy plans to open visa centers in big cities of Ukraine. According to Fabrizio Romano, ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, such measures are going to facilitate processing visa documents. The decision was announced during his meeting with local authorities of Donetsk region.

While staying in Donetsk, Romano also attended the World Economic Forum ‘Discover Donbass’ where he saw huge potential of the region for bilateral cooperation. ‘I’d like to come back here in the nearest future to discuss proposals for economic and cultural cooperation’, he says.
