A Russian prosecutor has demanded a 6.5-year sentence in the trial of Dennis Christensen, the first Jehovah’s Witness to be arrested and imprisoned after the Russian Supreme Court’s extraordinary ban on this world faith. The sentence is due on February 6, and although there was some hope of a change after Russian President Vladimir Putin seemed to come out against criminalizing the Jehovah’s Witnesses, there has been no let-up in the armed searches and arrests of believers.
