Eurovision in Ukraine: myths, realities and prospects

May, 2017 Kyiv to host Europe’s most prestigious song contest, Eurovision-2017. The main three shows (two semifinals and grand final) will take place on May 9, 11 and 13 and will be broadcast to more than 200 millions of spectators.

The less time left the more disputes (doubts, news distortions, speculations) about financial, organizational (technical) and schedule readiness of Ukraine, in general, and Kyiv, in particular, arose.

It is high time to bust some myths about the preparation process and reveal events ongoing and prospects.

Ukrainian authentic clothes museum opens in Lviv

December 1, a private museum of Ukrainian authentic clothes exposing several thousand exhibits opened in Lviv (27 Svobody Ave., shopping center ‘Opera Passage’).

The museum is called to help Ukrainians to learn more about their homeland, and to grasp true value, power and depth of embroidery.

The museum is based on Roksoliana Shymchuk’s private collection.

Kyiv to present its tourist potential in Tel Aviv

December 15-16 Tel Aviv will host ‘Kyiv Days in Tel Aviv’.

The event program starts with an official program including meetings of representatives of Kyiv’s official delegation and Tel Aviv city administration to discuss perspective directions of bilateral cooperation, and presentation of Kyiv in two directions, ‘Smart City’ and ‘Tourism’.

The second event day is held at Tahana where guests can attend:
– art fair involving Ukrainian artists and handmade masters;
– the national cuisine presentation;
– ‘Kyiv, the city where everything starts’ tourist stand and ‘Kyiv is an ancient and new capital of Ukraine’ photo exhibition;
– workshop for representatives of Ukrainian and Israeli tour operators (‘Dan Panorama Tel Aviv’ hotel);
– concert with participation of folk groups.

Pumpkin seeds to be exported to EU from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Thanks to Slovak investors ‘Agro Valley SK’ Ltd., a company to grow pumpkin seeds and export to the EU, started working in the village of Bashmachka (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast). Now the project covers 300 hectares of pumpkin with the prospect to be expanded to 1,000 hectares in 2017.
At present 20 people (Ukrainian specialists) work at the company, the job number is going to be increased to 50.

The building materials and specialized equipment (processors, hopper, washing machine, dryer table and various types of conveyors) are made in Ukraine (Kakhovka experimental mechanical plant).

Overall, 1 million euro was invested in the company, one more 1 million euro will be contributed during 2017-2018 years.

Khmelnytskyi collector grows exotic fruits and plants

It takes Ivan Bondarchuk from Khmelnytskyi several hours so that his plants harvest.

Coffee, figs, banana, citrus fruits (45 species), kiwi, pineapple, persimmon, feijoa, kumquat, fig trees, tree tomato, papaya, olives grow in the collector’s greenhouse. Cocoa and vanilla are the next plants to grow.

The man started the business 30 years ago. Ivan orders exclusive plant abroad via Internet.
