Japan offers $1.5 billion in aid

Japanese government decided to give Ukraine $1.5
billion in financial aid to realize a set of projects. About $1.1 billion will be spent for Bortnychi
aeration plant modernization. The project is developed by the Kyiv City State
Administration and consists of sewage waters treatment plant modernization and
processing line construction for precipitations utilizations and treatment to
be held in Bortnychi aeration plant.

Poland may launch two trains to Ukraine

The Polish rail carrier, Przewozy Regionalne, plans to
launch two new trains to Ukraine this year. The trains will run on the routes
Krakow – Mostyska, and Warsaw – Kovel. According to the Polish company representative, the
final decision has to be made by Ukrainian enterprise ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’. However,
the issue may be agreed during the May international railway conference. The first trains will start in December.

Ukrainian girl makes debut as young pianist 

Nine-year-old Sophia Starchenko, a resident of Zhmerynka in Vinnytsia Oblast, won the VI International Competition for Young Pianists NAD
KAMIENNA 2014 held in the Polish city of Skarzhysko-Kamienna. The jury was
impressed with the high level of Sophia’ performance of works by world famous
composers Bach, Haydn and Stepanenko Paruhaladze. The girl was granted a
diploma and a tablet. Diplomas and money prizes were also given to another
two Sophia’s fellow-townswomen, student of children music school, Anastasia
Kudlayenko and Diana Lyndryk.

Children’s Fim Festival coming to Ukraine

This year, Ukraine hosts the first annual Film Festival
for Children to be held in Kyiv, Odesa, Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk
and Zaporizhia. The film festival program includes:

– international competition program (contest of seven
full-length films from around the world for audience aged 10 years and older);

– animated clips for children from 3 to 10 years;

– thematic retrospectives;

– interactive gaming workshops on cinema.

A special event of the first Film Festival for Children
is a Charlie Chaplin Retrospective showing short and full-length films. The event
is timed to the 125th anniversary of the birth of the genius of the silent
cinema.
