Ukrainian
project ‘Babylon’13’ to be shown at the annual festival Kinofest NYC

The annual festival Kinofest NYC, held on May,9-11 in
New York, will show Ukrainian project called ‘Babylon’13’, newsreel events of
public protests in Kiev.

The film will be presented by Volodymyr Tykhyi,
director and producer of the project, and Yuri Hruzynov, the operator kidnapped
on the Crimean peninsula during the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

The fest is organized by the Ukrainian Museum in New
York and supported by Donetsk platform for cultural initiatives, Isolation.

Kinofest NYC is the festival to promote independent
Ukrainian cinema and film of post-Soviet countries. The event might help locals
of New-York to understand realities of East European countries through cinema.

 Swiss like Ukrainian chocolate

ROSHEN Confectionery Corporation has become the first
Ukrainian company to exhibit its products at the largest and most prestigious
exhibition in Switzerland. Ukrainian corporation has presented 20 types of
chocolate in the following categories: dark milk chocolate, extra milk
chocolate, bitter chocolate, extra black chocolate, brute. Every stand
attendant could try chocolate and evaluate it in test-zone. More than 2000
people tried Roshen chocolate during 3 days of exhibition.

Rolf Mürner, confectioner, the winner of the world
cooking championship and master of Swisspastrydesign confectionery design
school, was pleasantly surprised with Ukrainian chocolate, ‘I think that extra
milk chocolate Classic with caramelized walnuts is just amazing. I don’t see
any quality difference with Swiss chocolate. And the most popular 56% black
chocolate has very unique taste. I was impressed! I have never tried anything
like this either in Switzerland or in France’.

More than 50 confectionery companies from Switzerland,
France, Italy, Germany and other countries presented their products at Salon du
Chocolat exhibition. Above 16,000 sweets lovers visited Zurich for this
exhibition.

 Ukrainian movie may receive award at Cannes Film Festival

Ukrainian movie The Tribe by Myroslav Slaboshpitskiy
film director will fight for one of the most 67 Cannes Film festival awards to
be held on May 14-25, 2014.

The film tells about young Serhiy who in attempt to
take his independent niche in school for deaf hierarchy joins deaf criminal
organization Tribe and participates in robberies. Love to the arch villain’s
woman challenges Serhiy to oppose all criminal organization. The movie is made
in hand language, neither sign language interpretation nor voice-over is
available. The main characters are nonprofessional actors with hearing
disorders.

Leaving behind more than 1200 competitors The Tribe
has become one of the nominees for Critics’ Week award. The movie director runs
for Golden Camera best full-length debut.

 Ukrainian girl is Mini-Miss European Union 2014

Nine-year-old Anyuta Klymovets, Lutsk, has received Mini Miss
European Union 2014 title in beauty competition held in Prague.

Anyuta has won in the following nominations:

– Absolute Best Talent;

– Absolute Best Model;

– European Union Absolute Best Interdiamant 2014.

The contest jury was impressed by young Ukrainian’s
singing.

The young Ukrainian beauty is a student of Svitlynka
model school.

She studies at Lutsk specialized school N1, plays
piano, takes singing and dancing classes.

Ten nations work on ‘Mark of Friendship’

Kherson educational and aesthetic
complex ‘Art School’ finished accepting works for the second International
Online Drawing Competition ‘Stamp of Friendship participated by about 1,600
young artists aged 5 to 25 years from 10 countries: Belarus, Hungary,
Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and
Croatia.

The sent works feature architectural
and landscape themes of modernity and history of the countries, flora and
fauna, holiday and everyday lifestyle scenes, objects of ethnography and
decorative art ideas on the vehicles, the national sports.

The stamp-winner will be chosen by
online voting and will be announced in May 2014. Winners will be awarded with
diplomas, the best works will be published on mail carriers.

The first competitions ‘Stamp of
Friendship’ was held in 2013 and involved 800 young artists.
