Ukrainians in vyshyvankas walk along the streets of London

The 5th Vyshyvanka March was held in London. The action was accompanied by dances and songs. The procession began at Marble Arch by joint singing Ukrainian national anthem and a minute of silence in memory of Ukrainian soldiers killed in the war in Donbas. The march finished in St.James Park located opposite Buckingham Palace.

The event was organized by a charity center ‘London Euromaidan’, the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain and British-Ukrainian Aid.

‘Smart BLINDS’ raised over $50,000 INVESTMENT

Startup SolarGaps (‘smart blinds’ that can generate solar energy to electricity) raised $50,000, the sum is sufficient to launch mass production. 18 days left to the end of the fundraising campaign at Kickstarter platform but the amount of investment has reached $51,035.

Blinds by SolarGaps are equipped with solar panels and track the sun throughout the day, adjusting position to the optimal angles to generate solar electricity to power. The solar panels can generate up to 100W-150W of renewable energy per 10 sq. ft. of a window, enough to power 30 LED light bulbs or three MacBooks.

SolarGaps is one of the projects to represent Ukraine at the exhibition of alternative energy in Kazakhstan ‘Astana Expo-2017’.

Kyiv among the world’s most popular cities for international retailers

According to the annual study How Global Is The Business of Retail, Kyiv took the 13 place among most popular cities for international retailers to expand their presence.

In 2016 25 new brands opened in the capital of Ukraine (compared with 12 in 2015). Among the new brands are Armani Exchange, Falke, Maje, Calvin Klein Underwear, Converse, NYX and others.

Hong Kong, London, Dubai, Doha and Tokyo are in TOP-5 of the rating.

Ukrainian book for kids gets the world’s recognition

The book for kids ‘The war that changed Rondo’ (Stary Lev Publishing house and creative workshops Agrafka) entered the catalogues of Picturebook Makers website, a collection of children’s illustrated books from around the world.

The book tells about the city of Rondo inhabited by small and vulnerable creatures. Once war came into the peaceful city and affected every citizen of Rondo.

Let’s meet summer brightly – Color Run-2017

June 4 ‘Color Run’, holiday for all athletes and joggers, children and adults, fans of outdoor activities, healthy lifestyle, charity, and those willing to meet the summer 2017 emotionally, will be organized in Kyiv.

Distance will cover the central streets of the city: Sahaidachnyi Str. and partially Kostiantynivska Str.

Distances of 3 km and 6 km will be richly painted with bright colors of holi and lit by vibrant music of DJ’s. The run is open to all in age from 16 years and older.
