It’s a Victory Day. Our soldiers won over foreign soldiers. In school they told us there was an Unknown Warrior, and that the Eternal Flame never goes out because we must remember the warriors. I know the war was very long ago, but I don’t remember exactly how many years ago. We’ve been to (the World War II) museum today. I saw helmets, medals and guns. I liked bombs the most. And the scarriest thing was the device (the fascists) used for cutting the heads of captives. And a bone crushing device. They used to decapitate kids too. I know that captured kids used to beg for bread, but they didn’t give them any, and kids died.

Victory over the Germans is celebrated today. It happened in 1942. I know that a lot of people died, and everyone tried hard to protect the motherland. They tell us about it in school. I think that in general kids of my age know quite a lot about the war. These flowers I carry, I will give them to veterans when I see some.

Our soldiers won over fascists. I know that when the children were born (the fascists) would take them away from their parents and perform experiments on them to make new medicines.

My grandma told me that Germans summoned her from school to recite poems. They made videos of local children reciting German poems. When she was little, a bullet flew over her head very close to her. She said that it was horrible times. My grandma’s father was a soldier. In our school there is a monument to Kazymyr Haponenko (an 11-year-old resistance member). Germans tortured him because he didn’t talk. In school they tell us a lot about the war. It’s in our textbooks on reading. We must know the heroes who saved our land and cleaned it of Germans.

There was a war many-many years ago. Our soldiers were brave and won it. Last year they told us about it in school. My hat is like those hats veterans used to wear during war. I mean, soldiers.
