Vox Populi with Valentyna Chabanova: How do you feel about Volyn Massacre on it’s 70th anniversary.

On the 70th anniversary of the Volyn Massacre, Kyiv Post asked how people felt about this tragedy and President Viktor Yanu­kovych declining to join his Polish counterpart at a commemorative ceremony in Lutsk on July 14.

“I’ve heard about the letter from Party of Regions deputies asking the Polish parliament to recognize the events of 1943 as genocide against the Polish nation. One should remember that it was a civil war and there were victims on both sides.”

“Yanukovych is doing the right thing, I think. Ukrainians were humiliated and suffered a lot. We need to respect ourselves more.”
