Alexander Zhivkov, lecturer

”No. Because people will not allow him. He is a different person, with a different education and a different mentality. He is a normal Ukrainian with his problems. He is not a thief, not a crook, not a gangster. ”

Alexander Mikolenko, photographer

”Yes and no. Honestly, I voted for Poroshenko. I think the problem is not our president, it’s us. We allow the officials to become such people. If someone wants to change something in the country, he must begin with himself. Poroshenko makes mistakes. When working among clowns, it is hard not to become one of them. And he did.”

Elina Sirochenko, Ukrtelecom employee

”I think he is becoming (a second Yanukovych), because nothing is changing. Everything stays the way it was under Yanukovych. The bribes were given and they continue to be given. The improvements are not visible.

Roman Ratushny, student

”No, although people often think that he is the second Yanukovych because he has too much power. He imprisons political opponents like (businessman Gennady) Korban. And there is even more corruption. But Yanukovych was different. There was a precise hierarchy, the ‘Family’ and a territorially united party. The Petro Poroshenko Bloc is not like the Party of Regions because it is a mix of good and bad members from the whole country. Poroshenko is a bad guy, but he is far from Yanukovych.”

Tatiana Kasevich, financial manager

”He will become the second Yanukovych, because money makes people do the same things. Maybe he’s a good man now, but I’m sure that he can’t cope. I remember the Orange Revolution when I was full of hope that things will begin to change, but nothing happened. And now I don’t see any will for change. The same faces sit in government.”
