Dmytro Dovgopoly
Dmytro Dovgopoly was born in Kharkiv. Upon earning his Ph.D. in International Relations from Kyiv National Shevchenko University, he worked there as an associate professor. In 1987 he won the UN National Competition and joined the United Nations Secretariat. Dovgopoly was the UN’s director of procurement for 10 years, carrying out official assignments in over 100 countries and assisting in the deployment of peacekeeping missions in ex-Yugoslavia, Sudan, Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan, among other places. He retired from the UN in 2019 and divides his time between Spain and the U.S. He consults on risk management and supply chain diplomacy and co-hosts the radio program “International Context” on Chicago Public Radio.
