Jonathan Murphy is UNDP Team Leader of the Parliamentary Development Programme “Rada Za Evropu”. Jonathan was born in Wales, grew up in England, and lived in Canada for over twenty years. After ten years working in Edmonton’s inner city with mentally ill and homeless people, Jonathan moved into the field of social policy and research. In 1997 Jonathan was appointed by the Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien as director of research for the government caucus in the Canadian parliament, a position he held until 2002. Jonathan completed his PhD at Cambridge in 2006 in international management and became a faculty member at Cardiff Business School in Wales. Jonathan has worked in parliamentary development for many years, in upwards of 25 parliaments, for agencies including UNDP, EU, and World Bank. From 2012 to 2015 he headed a major UNDP project to support the Tunisian democratic transition.
