In this year’s competition more than 1,000 projects have been submitted. The Burisma Group was awarded by Morgan Williams, President of the American-Ukrainian Business Council

The Philanthropists’ Association of Ukraine and the Organizing Committee of the “Charitable Ukraine-2017” declared international energy group Burisma winner of the contest in the category “Big business’s charity” and awarded the company with a special prize “Angel of Goodness”.

The National level winners including Burisma were evaluated in fifteen main categories, three individual and four special categories.

The award ceremony was held on March 22, 2018 in the columned hall of the Kyiv City State Administration. Advisor to the Board of Directors at Burisma Group Vadym Pozharskyi accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The “Angel of Goodness” is a unique ceramic statuette in the shape of an angel, embellished with rich national ornament and amber. “Angel of Goodness” is a collaborative project of the Association “Ukrainian Amber World” and Ukrainian craftsmen.

“Today’s winner is Burisma Group. They have a vast corporate responsibility program, they help people out of a tough situation, support those financially challenged, provide for their education. In the recent two years, the company has been constructing and repairing roads, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, sports clubs, and social objects in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions”, said the President of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council Morgan Williams.

Burisma Group is a member of the U.S.-Ukrainian Business Council (USUBC) and, together with other companies implement the best international practices in Ukraine, cooperate with the U.S. business, use the best equipment of U.S. manufacturers in the gas producing activities. Social context is not an exception, since corporate social responsibility of large companies in the world is an essential element of any kind of activity.

“In 2012, the Contest was established as “Charitable Ukraine” by the Philanthropists’ Association of Ukraine. The Contest aims to develop effective social-oriented charity, patronage and volunteering in Ukraine by publicly stimulating the best philanthropists, benefactors and volunteers, their organizations and practices. The objectives of the Contest are: promotion of charitable activities and volunteering, their organizations and effective practices; awarding the best philanthropists, benefactors and volunteers, organizations that implemented significant charitable projects in Ukraine throughout the year”, said the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and President of the Philanthropists’ Association of Ukraine Oleksandr Maksymchuk.

“For Burisma, the award represents acknowledgement of our everyday efforts and social investments, targeted at local initiatives and improvement of life of the communities in which the company conducts its activities. Plenty of actions and useful things often remain behind the scenes nonetheless they are important and visible to the thousands of people whose lives are changed for the better. Over the past two years, Burisma’s operating companies have implemented social projects worth more than UAH 100 million”, said Advisor to the Board of Directors at Burisma Group Vadym Pozharskyi at the award ceremony.

The Organizing Committee of the National Contest “Charitable Ukraine-2017” noted that Burisma Group is actively conducting charitable and sponsorship activities within the framework of its social projects, the Group constantly provides charity and sponsorship assistance to its employees, socially vulnerable citizens, people in need, veteran organizations of peacekeeping soldiers and ATO warriors.

Burisma is building and renovating urban and rural infrastructure. Burisma is allocating funds in order to build and renovate hospitals, schools, kindergartens, sport clubs, roads and other social facilities in dozens of communities in the Kharkiv oblast. In 2016-2017 alone, more than 100 social programs were implemented.

The Group is not only directly providing support to regions and communities, but is also a socially responsible company at a state level, while staying among leading tax payers in Ukraine.
