Motivation is enthusiasm for doing something. This word implies psycho-physiological process, which manages the behavior of a person, defines its orientation, organization, activity and stability. Everyone knows the method of carrots and sticks, but this technique has its pitfalls that can ruin the result or even destroy the team.

The basis of motivation is the correct setting of tasks, a working environment, instructions and training, career progression and feedback to superiors. If this system doesn’t work perfectly, the further efforts may not bring any result.

Maslow’shierarchy of needs was never revoked. If there is no bread, butter and caviar will not arrive on their own accord.

Once the basic levels are fulfilled, the next level up is what motivates us, if they are not fulfilled, any scheme will not work out.

But the main secret of motivation is the correct definition of motivation types. There are five of them, and they are applicable to all people. In pure form, the types of motivation are very rare; it is always a mixture of several, where there are dominant and minor types.
Type 1 – professional. He values ​​his work content, the ability to prove himself. For him, the working conditions are important, he is proud of his competence.
Type # 2 – instrumental. They will do his best if he receives fair and high pay for his work. Work itself at the same time may not be a sacred value for them.
Type 3 – patriotic. He is easily motivated by participation in a very important project, the ultimate goal and the sense of self-worth turn him on.
Type 4 – Host type. Such employees will voluntarily assume responsibility for the work they carry out, will strive for a result even without a financial stimulus. They do not need orders, moreover – they cannot stand them. Autonomy and trust are the best motivation for this type.
Type 5 – the complete opposite is an avoidable type. He is completely dependent on the instructions of the management, takes orders for granted and will not stir a finger without setting clear targets. Indifference and lack of aspiration are a vital credo of this type. Responsibility for him is a pretty heavy weight; he strongly condemns the activity of other employees.
