The forums become a regular meeting place for representatives of the energy sector, Ukrainian and foreign developers, investors, government officials and representatives of financial institutions. Maria Barabash, President, A7 CAPITAL; Co-founder, Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs (SUP), opened the forum with words: «Ukraine needs to take the first step in attracting investment and generally improving living standards and prosperity in Ukraine. And this first step is the rule of law, this is the settlement of the judicial system; and only then we will have the foreign investments which are so needed now in Ukraine!»

The first forum of the Ukrainian Energy Week was the Ukrainian Oil & Gas Investment Forum. The Ukrainian Energy Week hosted a dialogue between representatives of the government, business and sectoral organizations. Nataliya Katser-Buchkovska, Member of Parliament of Ukraine, Chairperson of the Subсommittee on Sustainable Development, Strategy and Investments, Committee on Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Safety: « The gas market is one of the key elements in ensuring energy security, since virtually one third of Ukraine’s energy is consumed at the expense of natural gas». Sergey Leshchenko, Member of Parliament of Ukraine, Member of the Committee on Corruption Prevention and Counteraction, told: «Of course, the emerging market is a very attractive environment in order to maximally consolidate profits. Nobody promises that Ukraine will succeed and there is nothing that needs to be done. But if the changes were also at the parliamentary level, then the growth figures were twice as high as they are now». Andriy Kobolyev, CEO, Naftogaz of Ukraine, talked about new positions concerning the gas market participants: «The regulation provides for a very important step is the transfer of a subscriber base to the Ministry of Finance from the oblgas, which owns this base. But since only the oblgas stations know the number of subscribers consuming gas from its network, then without them it is impossible to do this quickly. This regulation was not confirmed by the state regulatory service, but if it will work and the oblgas base will be able to transfer, then in the beginning of next year it will be possible to conduct monetization». Interestingly, there are already initiatives of industry companies that make Ukraine’s gas and oil sector more transparent and transparent. Tetiana Temniuk, Head of Strategic Communications, JV “Poltava Petroleum Company”, replaced the new project: «Taking into account that our country has proclaimed a course on openness of data for attracting international investors, it is now time to bring this sphere out of the shadows. First of all, companies should open their data in order to get this transparent system».

The second Energy Week forum was the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Forum, which aimed to discuss alternative energy sources in Ukraine that would save energy on our planet. Sergiy Savchuk, Chairman, State Agency of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, commented: «The market for renewable energy is much wider, much larger, it can not be reduced to the construction of only solar power stations. I am confident that while we are making auctions, the investor should find and increase funding for other projects that are equally valuable to the economy and in terms of return on investment». Discussed, among other things, the system of auctions. Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board, Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, Vice President, World Wind Energy Association, highlighted: «When we talk about a quick transition to auctions, we need to understand the main goal of this transition – it’s not an artificial reduction in the tariff, it’s a new renewable energy scheme that would satisfy investors. We are ready to move on to a new system of auctions, but at the same time we must preserve the interests of the market in order not to stop the market, as it happened in Poland and not to fall to the tariff reduction». There were many positive forecasts and highlights on the prospects for the development of the field: Rodion Morozov, Head of Ecological Projects Department, Ukrgasbank, assured: « Next year we will still help and try to get a much cheaper resource, which will allow 7-8 years of investment to invest and finance renewable energy projects».

The final third forum was the Ukrainian Energy Efficiency Forum, the key issue of which was to save resources that are exhausting and not restored. Oleksiy Ryabchyn, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Head, Subcommittee on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented on new regulations and laws: «What about energy efficiency in transport. Our political order is the legalization of cars on European numbers. This is the only thing we have. We have a policy on transport, but we have a crazy dependence on the import of fuel from Russia and Belarus. 80% of fuel is imported. Instead of supporting ecological cars, discounting hydrides, continuing the policy of importing cars without VAT, without excise, introducing VAT on electric vehicles, etc». Daniele Archetti, Sales Manager – Oil & Gas and Combined Cycles, Turboden S.p.A., said: «If the climate changes to a warmer one, it means that in the future we will encounter some problems. Climate change will harm us, so we have to spend a lot more money to change the situation. For example, we make steam generator turbine generators to generate electricity from waste and improve the situation in this sector». As a result, Maria Barabash, President, A7 CAPITAL, said: «Ukraine is the first country in the world in terms of energy consumption, so we are inefficient in energy consumption. The biggest questions arise about energy consumption in the industry, therefore our next forum in April 2019 will be devoted to the industry – Ukrainian industrial week’19».

Among the key speakers of the Forum: Hugues Mingarelli, EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, H.E. Ole T.
