You're reading: Cabinet approves new supervisory boards of PrivatBank, Ukreximbank, Oschadbank

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved candidates of independent members of and representatives of the state to the supervisory board of state-owned Oschadbank, Ukreximbank and PrivatBank (all based in Kyiv), who will start running their posts from June 14, 2019, the Finance Ministry of Ukraine has said in a press release.

Pedersen and Partners, Ward Howell Ukraine and Talent Advisors, which were selected on a competitive basis with the participation of international organizations, selected candidates for the posts of independent members of the supervisory boards among 632 applications submitted.

In accordance with the law on banks and banking activities, each independent supervisory board consists of six independent members and two representatives of the state.

Sevki Acuner, Baiba Apine, Оleksii Reznikov, Оleksii Grinchenko, Weinstein Michael, and Peter Briggs, and representatives of the state – Daniel Bilak (from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine) and Dmytro Vlasov (from the Verkhovna Rada) were appointed independent members of the supervisory board of Oschadbank.

Ukreximbank’s supervisory board includes Paul Thorsten, Steven Fisher, Dimitri Chichlo, Olyana Gordiyenko, Sergiy Konovets, and Dominique Menu as independent members, as well as representatives of the state Yuriy Butsa (from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine) and Alla Shulha (from the Verkhovna Rada).

New independent members of the supervisory board of PrivatBank approved the international adviser of the U.S. Treasury technical assistance department, former IMF consultant expert Sharon Easky; former Director General for Operations Citi (Egypt) and member of the supervisory board of Citi Bank (Ukraine) Nadir Shaikh and Eran Klein, who previously held leadership positions at Commerzbank (United Kingdom), Citibank (United Kingdom), WestLB (Japan) and Deutsche Bank (Japan).

Also, the author of the Turkish banking system reform program, Engin Akcakoca, managing partner of Apollo Management investment company Andrea Moneta and the financier, the author of the financial sector reform in Ireland Steven Seelig were re-elected to the supervisory board of PrivatBank.
