You're reading: Capital investment in Ukraine 20.7 percent up in January-September

Capital investments in Ukraine in January-September increased by 20.7 percent compared to the same period in 2016, while in January-September 2016 – by 16.4 percent, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to its data, for the six months Hr 259.5 billion of capital investments (excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and part of the Donbas region) were used.

In terms of regions the largest increase in capital investments in January-September compared to the same period last year was recorded in Zaporizhia (52 percent), Ternopil (49.9 percent), Lviv (36.5 percent), Chernihiv (35.9 percent), Vinnytsia (34.5 percent), Kherson (31.5 percent), Dnipropetrovsk (29.3 percent), Odesa (28.7 percent), Donetsk and Cherkasy (23.9 percent), Poltava (22.9 percent), Zhytmomyr (22.6 percent) regions and Kyiv city (22.5 percent).

At the same time, capital investments decreased in Kyiv region (6 percent).

In terms of sectors the largest growth of capital investments in January-September was recorded in the sphere of art, sports and entertainment (74.3 percent), health care (73 percent), public administration, defense and compulsory social insurance (58.9 percent), education (55 percent), in agriculture, forestry and fishing (36.7 percent), professional, scientific and technical activities (35.6 percent), administrative and supplementary services (31.3 percent), transport, warehousing, post and courier activities (30.9 percent), industry (22 percent), financial and insurance activities (14.8 percent), information and telecommunications (14.3 percent), advertisement and marketing (13.1 percent) and construction (9.2 percent).
