You're reading: Criteria for dividing Ukrainian banks into three groups remain unchanged in 2018

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has left unchanged criteria for dividing banks into groups in 2018, the NBU said on the website.

There are three groups of banks in Ukraine, according to the No. 444 decision passed by the NBU’s banking regulation committee on December 29, 2017.

The group of banks with state stakes includes financial institutions where the state directly or indirectly owns a share of more than 75 percent of charter capital. The group of banks of foreign banking groups incorporates banks whose controlling stakes belong to foreign banks or foreign financial and banking groups. The group of banks with private capital includes banks whose ultimate owners are one or more private investors who directly and/or indirectly own at least 50 percent of charter capital.

In particular, Ukreximbank, Oschadbank, PrivatBank, Ukrgasbank, and PJSC Rozrakhunkovy Tsentr (Settlement Center) belong to the first group of banks. The second group consists of 23 banks and the third one of 54 banks.

The NBU says it will use the criteria solely for reporting on the results of the country’s banking system.
