You're reading: Ex-shareholders of PrivatBank challenge actions of NBU, Finance Ministry in court

The Cyprus company Triantal Investments Ltd, formerly one of the largest shareholders of PrivatBank (Kyiv), has appealed against the actions of the National Bank and the Finance Ministry of Ukraine.

According to the agenda of Kyiv District Administrative Court, the corresponding lawsuit will be considered on July 27. It is still unclear which actions by the National Bank and Finance Ministry the company is challenging. However, PrivatBank is also among defendants.

The NBU has not received a notification about the consideration of the relevant case in court and cannot comment on these litigations, the press service of the central bank told Interfax-Ukraine.

As reported, the Ukrainian government on December 18, 2016 decided to nationalize Ukraine’s largest bank – Dnipro-based PrivatBank. It became wholly owned by the state. After the government became its owner, the Finance Ministry additionally injected Hr 116.8 billion into it, including Hr 9.8 billion in 2017. Former owners of the bank pledged to restructure the bank’s corporate loan portfolio by July 2017.

Earlier, Triantal Investments Ltd was owned by Hennadiy Boholiubov and Ihor Kolomoisky, who held the stakes of 49.9 percent each through Fransiano Investments Ltd, with a 0.2 percent stake belonging to Oleksandr Martynov.
