You're reading: Groysman sees no reasons to declare default

A possible default will have serious consequences, which will harm the country’s population above all else, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said.

“Even talks about a default do not add to stability; it’s harmful […] A default is a global crisis. Just remember the 1990s. I believe the people of Ukraine have had enough crises. Any default, which will have very serious consequences, will harm Ukraine’s general public above all else,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.

The goal of the state now is to do all it can to pay off its debts and to preserve the country’s reputation as one that respects its obligations, Groysman said.
