U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker says he believes that the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will put Ukraine in a vulnerable political position.
The launch of Nord Stream 2 will eliminate the need for transit through Ukraine and place it in a more vulnerable political situation, he said during a telephone briefing in Brussels on May 24.
Volker added that such a project would allow Russia to directly deliver gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine and stressed that this is a political project.
