The Franco-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and  Industry gathered about seven hundred guests in front of St. Sophia’s Cathedral on July 14 to celebrate Bastille Day.

The original Bastille Day took place on July 14, 1789, and has been celebrated in France as a Federation holiday since 1790. Since 1880, the French Republic has celebrated Bastille Day as a symbol of the Union of the Nation.

His highness, the Ambassador of France to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins, CCIFU President Bertrand Barrier, CCIFU Director Maud Joseph and Commander Patrick Marnier greeted the guests on the red carpet in the historic heart of Kyiv.

Representatives of diplomatic missions, top government officials, CCIFU members their partners and clients, public officials and media representatives celebrated the holiday together.

During the official part of the event, the Ambassador de Poncins and CCIFU President Barrier greeted the guests from the stage, where the artists of the Kyiv National Academic Operetta Theater later performed the French and Ukrainian national anthems and a live music program.

The event was supported by 17 partners, including: Auchan, Carlsberg, Credit Agricole bank, Danone, Lactalis, Le Silpo, Limagrain, Monaco, Stellantis, Technobud, UKRSIBBANK.

After the sunset, visitors were treated to the incredibly beautiful spectacle of the lighting of the Belfry of St. Sophia Cathedral in the colors of the French flag.
