You're reading: Lenna Koszarny heads AmCham’s board of directors in Ukraine

Canadian entrepreneur Lenna Koszarny, the founding partner and CEO of Horizon Capital, has been elected as the chair of the board of directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine on Dec. 12.

Koszarny was born in Canada and has worked in Ukraine for almost 25 years. Her firm manages at least $800 million in three funds with primary investments in Ukraine – the Emerging Europe Growth Fund, the Emerging Europe Growth Fund II and the Western NIS Enterprise Fund.

According to Tetyana Bega, Investor Relations Manager at Horizon Capital, over the past two decades, these funds have invested $440 million in 50 companies in Ukraine, creating over 35,000 jobs and unlocking over $1.3 billion in capital for these portfolio companies over the same time period.

She is a certified professional accountant and holds an honors degree in business administration at the Ivey School of Business in Canada.

Alexander McWhorter, managing director at Citibank and Matteo Patrone, managing director of the Eastern European and the Caucasus division of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, were elected as the new vice-chairs.

Iryna Kozlova, general manager of PepsiCo Ukraine, was elected as the new treasurer, while Serhiy Chorny, managing partner at Baker McKenzie, will serve as the new secretary and legal advisor.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine is a lobby group created in 1992 to promote business cooperation between the United States and Ukraine.  Koszarny became the first woman to be elected as the head of the organization.

In addition to Koszarny, Kozlova, Patrone and McWhorter, the organization’s 2019 board of directors includes: Nathalie Alquier, country manager of Danone’s Ukraine branch; Grzegorz Chmielarski, general manager of McDonald’s Ukraine; Serhiy Chorny, head of Baker McKenzie’s Kyiv officer; Guilhem Granier of Sanofi-Aventis Ukraine; Kamran Iskandarov of Coca-Cola Ukraine; Kira Rudik of Ring Ukraine; Evgeny Shevchenko of Carlsberg Ukraine; Andriy Tsymbal of KPMG Ukraine; Vasile Varvaroi of Cargill; Sergey Yanchyshyn, head of Oracle’s Ukraine branch.
