National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz Ukrainy is waiting for the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to make public its instruction to cut the gas price for the population under public service obligations (PSO) set at Hr 8.55 per cubic meter, the company reported on its page on Facebook.

“NJSC Naftogaz was not involved in the development of this document and we still know nothing about its contents. We hope that by its instruction the Cabinet of Ministers would abolish the PSO and remove intermediaries in the form of private retail companies from relations between Naftogaz and domestic consumers,” reads the message.

The company stressed that today Naftogaz is unable to sell gas to the population and district heating companies at a price that is lower or higher than Hr 8.55 per cubic meter. Naftogaz Ukrainy has managed to make the gas price for its consumers lower in April due to non-use of the maximum markup permitted by the legislation.

As reported, the government has approved the decision to let Naftogaz Ukrainy to sell gas at a price lower than Hr 8.55 per cubic meter. Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said that Naftogaz Ukrainy could set prices lower than Hr 8.55 per cubic meter, but by no means higher.
