You're reading: Net sale of currency by NBU in interbank market totals $368.7 million in July

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in July bought $130 million in the interbank FX market and sold $498.7 million, while in June the regulator bought $1.155 billion.

According to data released on the website of the central bank on August 31, in July the National Bank intervened in the interbank market at a single rate.

In the period from July 1 to July 3, the central bank sold $150.9 million in the interbank market, from July 6 to July 10 it bought $92 million, from July 20 to 24 the central bank sold $ 347.8 million and in the last week of the month the NBU bought $38 million.

In addition, in the period from July 13 to July 17, the regulator refused to intervene in the interbank market for the first time since September 2018.

According to the NBU, since the beginning of the year, the National Bank bought $4.015 billion into FX reserves, and sold $3.292 billion. In March, it spent $2.2 billion on supporting the hryvnia, while in April it bought $723.3 million and sold $44.5 million, and in May the central bank bought $660.6 million.
