Nova Poshta has opened an innovative sorting terminal in Lviv, the Interfax-Ukraine agency has reported.

The area of the terminal, the construction of which took almost a year and a half, is about 15,000 square meters.

“We plan to transport over 200 million parcels of 8 million customers by the end of the year. To ensure high-quality and fast delivery of such volumes, we just need to invest in infrastructure. That is why we opened an innovative terminal in Lviv, which can sort 15,000 parcels and cargo per hour,” Nova Poshta Director Oleksandr Bulba said.

The terminal is equipped with machines from the Dutch company Vanderlande, as well as automatic sorting equipment of the Ukrainian company SMS. Parcels from the sorting tape will be loaded directly into vehicles using 24 special telescopic conveyors. At the same time, parcels and cargo will be sorted separately for 108 settlements (28 interregional directions, 80 intraregional, as well as for all departments of Lviv).

Co-founder of Nova Poshta Viacheslav Klimov noted that investments in the terminal amounted to about EUR10 million, while investments of Nova Poshta amounted to about 4 million euro.

“It was a joint project of Nova Poshta and the developer. We were responsible for equipment, the partners were responsible for the construction of the building,” he said.

Klimov added that the company currently has 4,904 branches throughout Ukraine. At the same time, according to him, by the end of 2019, it is planned to reach the mark of 6,000 units.

As reported, on May 17, 2019 Nova Poshta opened Khmelnytsky Innovation Terminal with a capacity of 14,000 parcels per hour.

Nova Posta delivered 174 million parcels in 2018, which is almost 20% more than in 2017. In 2019, it plans to achieve a 20% increase in the number of served items.
