You're reading: Prices of fuel at economy class filling stations soon could grow while upper price to remain unchanged

The A-95 consulting group (Kyiv) predicts that the prices of fuel at economy class filling stations could grow in coming days while the upper price would remain unchanged on the market.

“Totally the production cost of petrol grew by Hr 2.75 per liter in two months. In turn, average prie of fuel at filling stations over the period rose by Hr 2.40 per liter. I think that the sum of Hr 0.30-0.40 per liter for the parity will be added in the near term thanks to one wave of price increase in the economy class chains,” A-95 Director Serhiy Kuyun said.

He said that filling stations of the Avias partner chain (they are called the chain of Privat), which belong to the economy class segment, increased prices by Hr 2 per liter in the past two months, while premium filling stations increased prices by Hr 3 per liter.

“Thanks to a long cycle of oil refining [at its own facilities], Privat’s [prices] are growing more smoothly – for two months they have grown by 2 Hr per liter. In turn, premium chains react to external conditions more sensitively, receiving imported fuel with daily price quotations. That is why they increased prices by Hr 3 per liter. So the upper price level is unlikely to rise, but the lower one is likely to grow in price the other day,” the expert said.

According to Kuyun, in the future the key factor will be the change in the currency exchange rate.
