Swiss International Airlines is to re-launch direct flights from Kyiv to Zurich after a four-year break, the company announced on March 26 during a press conference at Boryspil Internation Airport.

Swiss International Airlines will offer four flights a week using Airbus А320 planes with business and economy class seats – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan, who was present at the press conference, congratulated the airport’s management on the agreement, and said he hoped it would keep up the same pace in introducing new air routes from Ukraine.

“It’s pleasant that Boryspil International Airport has become a site for welcoming honorable guests (of Ukraine) and announcing good news,” Omelyan said, referring to Irish low-cost airline Ryanair announcing its rollout on Friday, March 23. Ryanair earlier announced that it will introduce 15 new routes between Ukraine and cities in Europe.

Omelyan put the appearance of new airlines in Ukraine down to the work of the airport’s new CEO, Pavlo Ryabikin, and said Boryspil had every chance of becoming one of the world’s most successful airports in 2019.

Apart from Ukraine, Swiss International Airlines works in 45 countries.
